Serve to Lead: Student Leaders Unite to Serve the Community
Maha Bodhi School (MBS) welcomed student leaders from St Anthony’s Canossian Primary School, Damai Primary School and Telok Kurau Primary School for the launch of the Serve to Lead Programme. Serve to Lead is a Values-in-Action (VIA) platform that empowers student leaders to grow through meaningful service-learning experiences while contributing positively to the community.
The programme brings together students from the four schools to collaborate and prepare for upcoming engagements with seniors from Active Ageing Centres through the ActiveX initiative, where they will facilitate modified sports and interactive activities. Through this initiative, MBS partners with Sport Singapore, the organiser of ActiveX under the national ActiveSG movement, to promote intergenerational bonding by bringing seniors and youths together through sports.
Highlights of the programme included the role-play activity, where students practised communicating with seniors using the C.A.R.E. approach — being Considerate, Attentive, Respectful and Encouraging. The session concluded with students creating team pennants, symbolising their shared commitment to teamwork and service as they prepare for the upcoming ActiveX Playdate with seniors in May.
The Serve to Lead Programme marks the start of a meaningful journey as student leaders learn to lead, and serve with compassion, humility and purpose.
以服务促领导：学生领袖携手服务社区
菩提学校迎来了来自安东尼卡诺萨小学（St Anthony’s Canossian Primary School）、达迈小学（Damai Primary School）和友诺小学（Telok Kurau Primary School）的学生领袖，共同参与 “以服务促领导” 计划的启动仪式。这是一个以价值实践为核心的平台, 培养学生领袖的责任感与领导能力，为社区带来积极影响。
该计划汇聚了来自四所学校的学生，共同合作，为即将与活跃乐龄中心长者开展交流活动做好准备。在接下来的 ActiveX 活动中，学生将带领长者参与经过调整设计的运动和互动游戏，促进跨世代之间的交流与联系。通过这一项目，菩提学校与新加坡体育理事会（Sport Singapore）合作。新加坡体育理事会是全国 ActiveSG 运动下， ActiveX 项目的主办单位。双方通过体育活动让长者与青少年相聚互动，并推动积极乐龄与健康生活。
活动拉开序幕，重点在于通过服务与领导的机会，启发、赋能并丰富学生领袖的成长经验。活动的一大亮点是角色扮演环节。学生通过情境练习，学习如何运用 C.A.R.E. 价值观 与长者沟通——即体贴（Considerate）、专注（Attentive）、尊重（Respectful）和鼓励（Encouraging）。在活动尾声，各组学生共同设计并制作了团队旗帜，象征他们在服务与团队合作上的共同承诺，也为即将在五月举行的 “ActiveX 与长者同乐日” 做好准备。
“以服务促领导”计划的启动，标志着学生领袖们踏上一段充满意义的旅程。在这段旅程中，他们不仅学习如何成为优秀的领导者，更学习以同理心、谦逊与使命感服务社会，在服务中成长, 在行动中学习。
