P3 Art in Transit

Art Outreach’s learning journey art tours of the Circle Line art installations exposes our Primary Three students to site-specific public artworks by Singaporean artists and provides an insight into the history of the community where the stations are located. In term 2, the students travelled on the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) to a segment of either Circle Line I (Promenade, Nicoll Highway and Stadium) or II (Stadium, Dakota and Paya Lebar) to explore art that has been integrated into a functional, public space and to learn about the celebrated local artists who were selected to create the artworks. They also learned what inspired the artworks, and the processes used to develop and create them.

Students learned about the significance and value of the items featured in the artwork, Little Stories by A Dose of Light, at Dakota station.

Students learned about how shapes and symbols were used in the artwork, The Signs of Times by Salleh Japar, to map the development of Paya Lebar through the years.
