At our school, we are committed to fostering a caring and enabling environment where every Maha Bodhian is empowered to make responsible decisions aligned with our school values. We believe that discipline is rooted in care, with a strong commitment to supporting our pupils’ holistic growth.
Our Discipline Approach
The school adopts a proactive and positive approach to discipline, anchored in a strong foundation that nurtures both character and a sense of responsibility in every student. This approach is guided by three key pillars.
Preemptive Discipline focuses on establishing clear expectations, routines, and structures to guide students’ behaviour and prevent issues before they arise.
Positive Discipline emphasises encouragement and guidance, reinforcing appropriate behaviour through recognition, affirmation, and consistent support.
Restorative Discipline ensures that when mistakes occur, students learn from their actions through reflection, accountability, and making amends, rather than receiving consequences alone.
Student Leadership
Our school adopts The Leadership Challenge to develop student leadership. In alignment with the Enhanced 21st Century Competencies, we aim to nurture every student leader to be an inspiring role model. Each leadership practice is intentionally linked to key competencies, supporting the holistic growth of our students and empowering them to lead with confidence, character, and purpose.
“Model the Way” emphasises Core Values, guiding students to demonstrate positive attitudes and lead by example.
“Inspire a Shared Vision” develops Communication and Adaptive Thinking, as students learn to articulate ideas and unite their peers towards common goals.
“Challenge the Process” nurtures Adaptive and Inventive Thinking, encouraging students to innovate and improve.
“Enable Others to Act” strengthens Communication skills, fostering teamwork and trust.
“Encourage the Heart” builds Civic Literacy, shaping students to show care, appreciation, and social responsibility.
Through this approach, every student leader is empowered to influence others positively and grow into an inspiring role model within the school community.
Our Student Leadership Framework
Leadership development is a whole-school approach. To better equip every student leader in his or her role, the respective departments will conduct induction sessions. Through these sessions, student leaders will gain a clear understanding of leadership expectations, their duties and responsibilities, and the essential skills needed to carry out their roles effectively.
There are 4 tiers in our students’ leadership journey.
Tier 1: Self-Leadership
All P1 to P6 students focus on developing strong character and personal responsibility. We build competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision-making — guided by our school values of Respect, Resilience, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence. This tier is about serving self and becoming a responsible individual.
Tier 2: Class Leadership
Students begin to serve beyond themselves — taking on roles like Class Monitors, Reading Champs, PE Rangers, and more (refer to Student Leadership Framework). At this stage, students are encouraged to be positive influencers, contributing to both their class and school.
Leadership development is a whole-school approach. To better equip every student leader in his or her role, the respective departments will conduct induction sessions. Tier 3: School level Leadership
Students from Primary 3 to Primary 6 step up further, taking on wider responsibilities such as Prefects, Peer Support Leaders, and CCA Leaders. These students help shape the school environment, championing important causes and becoming leaders among peers.
Tier 4: Community Leadership
Our most experienced leaders — from Primary 5 to Primary 6 — take on high-level roles like Prefect Heads and Peer Support Leaders Board. These students extend their leadership beyond the school, becoming student advocates who serve the school and the wider community.
