Chinese New Year Celebrations
This year, the school celebrated Chinese New Year on 27 Jan 2017. It was a short celebration on the eve of the Chinese New Year but everyone enjoyed themselves. The pupils enjoyed a mini concert with various performances such as Lion Dance and Chinese Dance performances. They even received showers of gold coins from the God of Fortune. The P2 to P6 pupils did rooster crafts in the classroom while the P1 pupils had the chance to eat Yusheng with their classmates and teachers.
22nd “Char Yong Cup” Students Xiangqi Championships – National Primary schools Preliminaries
Our school co-organised the 22th “Char Yong Cup” Students Xiangqi Championships – National Primary schools Preliminaries with the Singapore Xiangqi General Association for the “Under 12 years old” and “Under 10 years old” categories on 11 Mar 2017. This was the fourth time Maha Bodhi School organised such a Chinese Chess competition and the second time on a National level. Our students did the school proud by clinching a total of 1 medal from the Zonal preliminaries and 4 medals from the National finals.
Dumpling Making Activity for Chinese New Year
As part of the Chinese New Year celebration, pupils were taught about the origin of dumplings and significance of eating dumplings during Chinese New Year. Furthermore, pupils had the opportunity to make their very own dumplings in class.
